LES PAVÉS DU NORD

“Les Pavés du Nord,” as a part of the Pachamama series, was a project by NCVR for Orbea. We aimed to tell the stories of these famous cobblestone roads in Northern France where the locals work to conserve these roads–what these paths mean beyond just the well-known race, Paris-Roubaix.

During our time there, we discovered many different stories: from the people who maintain the cobblestones with their own hands, to the president of the association “Amis dl paves,” or the young people, like Loic, who wants to make sure these traditions stay alive. We had the opportunity to live the Paris-Roubaix backstage alongside the WNT team, which gave us a totally unique perspective. My biggest takeaway was how each person loves the cobblestones in a different way, for different reasons and thanks to them, the Paris Roubaix will always be special for the cycling community.

I feel incredibly grateful for learning about the history behind the cobblestone roads. I think knowing what went into these famous places makes you understand their real value.
