“I began making bike frames with the idea of making them for friends and then I realized that this is what I want to do with my life.”

Ruben is a frame builder who grew up surrounded by bikes in Madrid: where he currently constructs hand-made bikes for those who desire to participate in the creative process with him.

What initially caught my eye about Ruben was the care and passion he puts into the construction of each bicycle–from the initial brainstorming, to sharing ideas with the client, to adapting the bike according to the rider, cutting tubes, measuring the angles, and finally welding and putting the full bike together.

Ruben and his work represent two of my greatest passions: craftsmanship and bicycles. I had no doubt that I needed to tell his story and capture images of his world. I look forward to seeing where bicycles take him–not just building and riding, but also creating joy and fulfilling cyclists’ dreams.
